Won’t prices be the biggest challenge facing the housing market?

Share

The discussion on housing affordability is increasingly moving beyond the issue of prices. The focus is shifting to demographics, social trends, and the relationship between the market and local governments. Dr. Piotr Szukalski will discuss how an aging population will affect the real estate market during the 16th Real Estate Market Forum.

In just over a month, we will meet at the 16th Real Estate Market Forum, so it’s time to introduce you to the first moderators, speakers, and panelists.

We have repeatedly pointed out that the problem of housing affordability is not only a matter of prices but also of demographics, procedures, and the dialogue between the market and local government. Demographic aging will become one of the factors exacerbating territorial inequalities and a challenge for local finances and public services.

Our guest—an expert on issues in demography, gerontology, and social policy—will be Dr. Piotr Szukalski, a professor in the Department of Sociology of Rural Areas, Cities, and Social Change at the University of Łódź.

Dr. Szukalski is the author of over 300 publications, including more than 140 articles published in journals such as “Polityka Społeczna,” “Studia Demograficzne,” “Gerontologia Polska,” and “Wiadomości Statystyczne.”
